Suburb Profile - East Perth
Suburb Photos
East Perth is tucked within a curve of the Swan River, where Claisebrook flows into it upstream from Perth Water. A major urban renewal project has transformed the stream, streets and structures to create an attractive and very desirable new residential area. Public artworks, water features, numerous pedestrian pathways and a recognition of the Aboriginal heritage add to the ambiance. Some of the attractions include the WACA (cricket), Gloucester Park (trotting) and Queen’s Gardens whose clay made the bricks for most of the City’s early buildings.
There are numerous parks and pedestrian pathways. The Queens Gardens is also a well-maintained haven with a series of small lakes where black swans and their cygnets can be found. East Perth is a stone's throw away from nearby wetlands and the Swan River. The suburb is also home to Trinity College.
